Overall, it can be said that the Slovak "Act on Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and Preparations" is totally amateurish, unprofessional and very stupid. It is time to amend it.
Psilocybin is the active substance of psilocybin mushrooms. Psilocybin mushrooms occur in most of the world, including Europe and Slovakia.
Interestingly, the toxicity of psilocybin is very low; the lethal dose is half that of caffeine. Nevertheless, according to Slovak law, this substance is in the so-called 1st group of the most dangerous narcotic and psychotropic substances. According to Slovak law, psilocybin is in the same group as extremely dangerous, harmful, and extremely addictive heroin. Heroin is probably the most dangerous drug in the world, and it causes extremely strong physical and psychological dependence.
Again, Czech laws put harmless psilocybin and other hallucinogens on the same list as relatively risky marijuana and THC.
The psychedelic DMT, nicknamed the "molecule of the soul" (this substance is used to achieve fascinating out-of-body experiences), also occurs naturally in small amounts in the human body. Addiction and dependence are, of course, completely ruled out, and it is a very safe substance for health. Nevertheless, Slovak laws classify this substance in the same group as heroin, and Czech law in the same group as marijuana (=THC).
It is paradoxical that although LSD (and other psychedelics) is considered a serious drug from a legal point of view, in reality, LSD is not only not a drug, but it has been successfully used in psychiatric research to treat alcoholism. LSD is not only not a drug, but it even cures drug addiction – not just alcohol addiction. According to psychiatric medicine, all addictions (even non-substance addictions such as gambling) work on exactly the same principle and are treated with practically the same methodology. Thus, psychedelics can be used to treat drug, alcohol, and non-substance addiction. It is absurd that these psychoactive substances (psychedelics), which can heal the human soul, are strictly forbidden and are legally on the same level as dangerous addictive drugs.
