The Istanbul Convention and the facts about it. The most successful hoax in the history of Slovakia. The search for a fictional enemy is a strongly fixed characteristic of the human psyche

The Istanbul Convention became popular again after a crazy conspirator, a Czech Catholic priest, said that the Istanbul Convention meant that homosexuals would rule Europe. A criminal complaint was filed against this priest, which is again perfect grist for the mill of Kremlin-funded disinformation websites. Namely, disinformation began to spread about how the Czech Republic is a dictatorship where there is no freedom of speech, and on the contrary, how Russia is a perfectly free country where everyone can say what they want.
Cardinal Duka supported Piťha, who preached against the Istanbul Convention. Halík criticizes the priest https://www.irozhlas.cz/zpravy-domov/dominik-duka-petr-pitha-tomas-halik-istanbulske-umluve_1810131313_pj
'Homosexuals will rule.' Scandalous sermon cannot be overlooked, criticizes priest Halík's speech https://www.lidovky.cz/domov/homosexualove-budou-vladnout-tenhle-skandal-nelze-prejit-kritizuje-projev-kneze-halik.A181012_094059_ln_domov_jho

  • In this article, I will directly quote sections of the convention. This will probably be the most factual article.
  • The reason for the great success of hoaxes about the so-called Istanbul Convention is that two forces have joined forces. The so-called alternative media and Christian activists, who have a number of well-organized organizations. Politicians, who have a huge media space, fell for the hoaxes and spread false news through the media.
  • The Conference of Bishops of Slovakia also expressed a negative opinion on the convention. The Church did not understand that it must be damnably cautious. The Catholic Church did not understand that we live in an era of hybrid warfare and fake news, and that religious activists are useful idiots supported by the Kremlin to spread subversion, hatred, and distrust towards the EU. The basis of Russian propaganda is hatred towards the West, portraying the West as a country of corrupt homosexuals and pedophiles.
  • I was unable to find a single article from disinformation websites that were critical of the convention and that also had claims substantiated by credible sources. No critical article contained the full authentic text of the Istanbul Convention. The full text can only be downloaded from websites that express a positive view of the convention. Anyone who wants to deliberately mislead will not publish the authentic text.
  • I have not been able to find a single article criticizing the Istanbul Convention that would actually quote any part of it. Religious fanatics and Kremlin-backed websites want to deliberately mislead and deceive their naive followers. On the contrary, this truthful and objective article will quote the allegedly controversial parts of the Istanbul Convention.
  • Few of the critics of the Istanbul Convention have even read it. I have read this document in its entirety. I can responsibly say that the entire document is truly about abused women and there were no ulterior motives to secretly infiltrate some alleged "gender ideology".
  • It must be admitted that the convention is a rather boring read, and several passages are unnecessarily repeated more than once.
  • A large part of the text is more suitable for Muslim countries, where women have no legal protection and the abuse of women is legal. There are passages that also talk about the mutilation of female genital organs – female circumcision. It would be appropriate if the Istanbul Convention were divided into two documents – one for Muslim countries and the other for civilized Europe. The Convention has already been signed by two Muslim countries, Albania and Turkey. Even the strongly conservative and strongly Christian Polish politicians had no problem with the contracting party – they signed it. On the other hand, by signing the Convention, European countries can be a good example for Muslim countries. Many of the commitments in the Istanbul Convention are already enshrined in the current legal system.
  • The convention also talks about limiting abortions, which religious conservatives are fighting for so hard – it says about the prohibition of abortion without the woman's consent.
  • Furthermore, religious dogmas strictly prohibit sterilization, and religious activists are very active in fighting against the sterilization of women. The convention states a strict prohibition of sterilization without the woman's consent. Religious activists, such as Mr. Chromík, contradict themselves.

Termination of the contract

Few people know about this fact. While activists say that the convention is a dangerous dictatorship of Brussels that takes away our freedom, in fact, it is clearly written in the convention that the treaty can be terminated at any time!
Quote: Article 80: Denunciation: Any Contracting Party may denounce this Convention at any time by means of a notification addressed to the Secretary General of the Council of Europe. End of quote.

In this section, I will also directly quote potentially controversial parts of the Istanbul Convention:

Article 14: Education: The Contracting Parties shall take, where appropriate, the necessary steps to include in the official curricula at all levels of education study materials relating to the issues of equality between men and women, non-stereotypical gender roles, mutual respect , … End of quote
Only a person obsessed with conspiracy theories can see a problem behind this. If children are taught in school that women should have the same pay as men, that men can also take maternity leave, and that women can also be police officers, then there is really nothing wrong with that. These are not new things; this is how our laws and our society already function today.

Quote, Article 12, General obligations. The Contracting Parties shall take the necessary measures to promote changes in social and cultural patterns of behaviour of women and men in order to eliminate prejudices, customs, traditions and all other practices which are based on the idea of the inferiority of women or on stereotyped roles of women and men. End of quote
The convention is written in a clear context – it primarily concerns Muslim countries. Perhaps no normal person can agree that women should wear burqas, hijabs, or that women should be treated as inferior and unequal to men, as in Muslim countries. Only an insane conspirator sees a dark conspiracy behind this passage.

Quote: without discrimination based on any grounds, such as gender, race, color,
language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, membership of
ethnic minority, property, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, health status, disability, marital status, migrant or refugee status or other status. End of quote
All these allegedly dangerous things have long been in our legal system and it brings nothing new.

This part should be liked by Christians for the right reasons. Quote:

Article 39: Forced abortion and forced sterilization
The Contracting Parties shall take the necessary legislative or other measures to ensure that the following intentional acts are established as criminal offences:
a) performing an artificial termination of a woman's pregnancy without her prior and informed consent
consent;
b) performing a procedure whose purpose or consequence is to terminate the natural ability
reproduction of a woman without her prior and informed consent or explanation of the procedure.
End of quote

The following passages confirm that the Istanbul Convention is also targeted at Muslim countries.

Quote: forced marriage, crimes committed in the name of honor and genital mutilation … End of quote
Quote 2: Article 38: Mutilation of female genitalia
The Contracting Parties shall take the necessary legislative or other measures to ensure that the following intentional acts are established as criminal offences:
a) removal, infibulation or any other mutilation of the whole or any part of the labia majora, labia minora and clitoris of a girl or woman. End of quote

Róbert Fico

Róbert Fico issued a very controversial statement on the Istanbul Convention. I don't believe that Fico has ever read the Istanbul Convention. He apparently relied on the arguments of confused religious fanatics to be true. It is also clear that Fico had the statement on the convention drafted by some official in the government office who either has neo-Nazi thinking and believes in fake news. Fico sees the promotion of homosexual marriages behind the Istanbul Convention. The truth is that the convention says nothing about homosexual marriages. Has Fico gone mad?
Slovakia will not ratify the Istanbul Convention, according to Fico it is contrary to the constitution in the definition of marriage https://www.webnoviny.sk/slovensko-neratifikuje-istanbulsky-dohovor-podla-fica-je-v-rozpore-s-ustavou-v-definicii-manzelstva/

Fico is very afraid of the crowd and could succumb to the pressure of the deranged demonstrators – religious fanatics.
Robert Fico's motive to express himself so stupidly could have been purely populist. By complying with the demonstrators' demands, Fico gained the support of Nazi voters, religious fanatics, and people who believe in hoaxes.
Populist Fico said what the stupid demonstrating crowd wanted to hear, that he is very much against homosexual marriages.

Statement of the KBS, Conference of Bishops of Slovakia

The official statement of the KBS states that the Istanbul Convention allegedly promotes some kind of gender ideology. I doubt that even one bishop who signed this statement has read the Istanbul Convention. I am afraid that the officials from the bishop's office who had the bishops sign it have not read it either, they just blindly believed Mr. Chromík that he might be telling the truth.
I would suggest to the bishops that they create new jobs for people who will diligently study and skeptically examine various hoaxes and fake news from Christian activists. Their task would be to verify the truthfulness of information on websites and social networks that are written about gender ideology and the like. Christian activists produce a lot of this disinformation waste, for example, how they turn children into transsexuals in Swedish schools and so on.

SNS's position

I quote the official statement of the SNS: The risk of adoption For example, according to him, gender and sex are distinguished. "A man can declare himself a woman, then marry another man and adopt children. We see a risk in this," said Bernaťák. End of quote
I am sure that the people from SNS have never read the Istanbul Convention and, in addition, they have fallen for really crazy hoaxes from social networks and disinformation websites. I also have serious concerns about the mental health of the SNS spokesman. I wish him a speedy recovery in a psychiatric hospital.

Controversial priest Marián Kuffa

Marián Kuffa spreads overly controversial conspiracy theories about gender ideology. This harms the good name of the Catholic Church. The bishops should sort things out with Kuffa. Controversial videos / lectures are available on YouTube.
He got into a conflict with Michal Havran, who is concerned about whether the church is really serious about fighting against abused women.
However, karma has already caught up with priest Marián Kuffa. He is currently hospitalized. God punished him for spreading hoaxes.

Anton Chromík

Anton Chromík is a very influential leader of Christian activists. There is a video available where he tries to argue how the Istanbul Convention is bad. It must be admitted that Chromík is a very good speaker and manipulator.
He says there a fabricated false information that the Pope compared some alleged gender ideology to an atomic bomb.
Chromík says that the basis of the Istanbul Convention is the struggle between man and woman.
He says that the Istanbul Convention means that children in kindergartens can choose whether they will be boys or girls.
This is just a small sample of Mr. Chromík's deliberate lies and fabrications.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpNH9oYKiMk
What is Mr. Chromík's goal and why is he doing this? Mr. Chromík has essentially created his own sect under the wing of the Catholic Church. He enjoys manipulating others with his ideology. He enjoys having an ideological influence on society. The second thing is that Chromík is partially mentally disturbed and probably thinks he is doing good, that he is saving the world from homosexual and pedophile destruction.
At first, Chromík may have had a sincere intention to promote Christian values by fighting against homosexual marriages and sex education by initiating a referendum. Later, the referendum brought him great popularity and political influence, so he became arrogant and began to deliberately manipulate people and scare them with the fictional enemy of the Istanbul Convention.
One more note regarding the Alliance for the Family : Christianity does not have a good history. Its past is the violent Christianization of Europe, America, and the Inquisition. And although homosexuals do not interfere with the church, the church interferes with them and sees a fictional enemy behind them. The church tries to impose its worldview on them even through means such as a referendum. The proverb "live and let live" does not mean much to church people. Homophobia in non-religious people, although these people may despise the church, is also a remnant of past energies that are still among us – these are medieval church-inquisitorial energies. Many non-religious people do not realize how much they have in common with religion, that they are attuned to the energies of the dark Christian past.

The search for a fictitious enemy is a strongly fixed characteristic of the human psyche.

Psychology: Why do we look for a fictional enemy? (The most important thing at the end)
I'll reveal the most important thing at the very end of the article.
When we look at this topic comprehensively, this whole case seems to me like searching for a fictional enemy.
I ask: why did Christian activists put so much energy into fighting a non-existent fictional enemy? (This included, for example, numerous demonstrations, marches, and several Slovak cities).
In psychology and psychiatry, there is also a technical term for this, which is referentiality, which is something very similar. For some reason, the search for a fictitious enemy is strongly fixed in the human psyche. Propaganda based on the existence of a fictitious enemy will always be very successful.
We also know the fictional enemy from the past. History repeats itself. What were the so-called inquisitorial trials about? A crowd of people accused an innocent girl of conspiring with the devil, and people believed that a girl associated with the devil was responsible for all their troubles, bad weather, or crop failure.
According to propaganda, George Soros, the EU, or the Istanbul Convention are to blame for all the evil on this planet.
People enjoy listening to simple propaganda that clearly names the enemy, clearly names the cause of evil. It is psychologically pleasant if people can blame their personal failures, failures in life, suffering, injustices, and problems in life on some fictional enemy.
