Criticism of the lotus position

When it comes to meditation, you will surely think of the popular yogic posture, the so-called lotus position, which involves crossing your legs on the ground. It is one of the biggest misconceptions that sitting in the lotus position is the best for meditation. The opposite is true: the lotus position is actually the biggest hindrance to meditation that exists. This position is uncomfortable and painful for a person, so we cannot concentrate at all during meditation. All major meditation experts agree that we should have a position that is comfortable for us.

Recommended position for meditation

-you can sit, for example, on an armchair, chair, or fitness ball
-you can sit on a chair without leaning back. Sit so that your buttocks are at the front of the chair (i.e. your buttocks are a few centimetres further forward than usual) and lean slightly forward
-you can lie down. The advantage is good energy flow when the body is straightened. However, this may not always suit us, because we may fall asleep or have poor alertness.
-you can even stand while meditating. The advantage is good energy flow when the body is straightened
