The Conception of Jesus by the Holy Spirit and the Virginity of Mary. Debunking Christian Fairy Tales. Serious Academic Evidence. (Updated 6/9/2025)

Among the basic and highest Christian dogmas is that Mary conceived Jesus supernaturally by the Holy Spirit, not through human sexual intercourse. Of course, the dogma that Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit is very important for Christians because it supports his falsified divine origin, meaning that Jesus was not just an ordinary human. According to Christian logic, God could not have been conceived naturally, but supernaturally. If we question the conception of Jesus by the Holy Spirit, we also question Jesus' divine origin and we question the very foundation of Christianity as such. Believing in the fairy tale of Christianity is truly beautiful. After all, everything fits together so beautifully. But I am a bad person, and I am going to awaken Christians from this beautiful dream – from this beautiful fairy tale – into a cruel reality. Oh dear – what a cruel alarm clock and cruel awakening for Christians!!! This article will force every Christian to abandon their Christian faith. Some Christians (especially the practicing and fanatical ones) may even have a mental breakdown from this article, fall into depression, or even be "struck down". A Christian has based their entire meaning of life on Christianity, but now here is an unpleasant article that questions their entire faith. The article will spoil the Christian's joy. Christians do not like to read such articles and often cannot even finish them. The truth is sometimes unpleasant. But even an unpleasant truth moves us forward. What is the point of the insane frenzy of fanatical Christian preachers and evangelists who try with all their might to drag as many sheep as possible to Christianity, which is already founded on lies? After all, Christianity is questioned by the Bible itself. Don't be fooled by the church! Have your own mind!

The Catholic Church preaches the dogma that Jesus was not born naturally through sexual intercourse, but that he was conceived supernaturally by the Holy Spirit. The Catholic Church also believes in the lifelong virginity of Mary, while some Protestants believe that Mary had sexual intercourse after Jesus' birth (the Bible mentions Jesus' brothers in Acts 1:14, but the Catholic Church tries to distort this fact in every possible way).
Even with standard translations, we see serious discrepancies. Two Gospels describe the same event quite differently. While Matthew's Gospel says that Mary conceived from the Holy Spirit, Luke's Gospel says that the Holy Spirit descended upon Mary, not that she conceived from the Holy Spirit!! This serious contradiction forced me to act and check the translations.
The Bible says unequivocally: no conception by the Holy Spirit, and the whole story was completely different and, to the great disappointment of Christians, also a bit controversial. According to the correct translation, the Bible describes the event as follows: Mary had Jesus at an extremely young age, and the evangelists tried to explain this. According to Jewish standards, a woman was married as early as 12 years old, sometimes even earlier. Of course, only at a later age, after 12 years, could they have sexual intercourse (this was common among Jews), otherwise, the man could understandably injure the girl (we know why, we don't need to discuss it in detail), and it was also not socially appropriate or decent. An angel appeared to both Mary and Joseph and told them to decide to conceive Jesus – a prophet in whom the Holy Spirit would be present despite the age barrier.

The Gospel According to Luke – Chapter 1
26 In the sixth month God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee,
27 to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the house of David. And the name of the virgin was Mary. ( The correct translation of the word parthenos παρθενος is not virgin but young girl. In the Septuagint , Dinah is still referred to as παρθένος in Genesis 34 even after her rape ) . 28 The angel came to her and said, "Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you." 29 But she was very much troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. 30 But the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. 31 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end." 34 "How will this be," Mary asked the angel, "since I am a virgin and have not known a man?"
The correct interpretation of this biblical passage is that Mary had premarital sexual intercourse, conceived Jesus with Joseph, and discussed with the Holy Spirit how to resolve this disgrace, which Jewish culture condemned. It is interesting that Christians do not know the Bible when they do not know that Jesus was conceived from the serious premarital relationship of Joseph and Mary.
35 The angel answered her, "The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore the child will be called holy, the Son of God. 36 And Elizabeth, your relative, has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren. 37 For nothing will be impossible with God." 38 Mary said, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word." And the angel departed from her. 41 When Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the baby leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.

The Gospel according to Matthew – chapter 1 , Catholic translation. 18 This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit.
Kralice Bible, translation version:

The birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: When his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found to be pregnant by the Holy Spirit.
In the oldest ancient Greek manuscripts of the Bible of the Alexandrian type (e.g. Westcott-Hort), it is a rather incomprehensible text that is difficult to translate.
While the first part of this text is better translated by the Catholic translation, the second half is better translated by the Kralice Bible.
What was translated in the Kralice Bible as "pregnant" is the Greek word γαστήρ, τρός with the meanings of belly, womb.
The quote from the Gospel of Matthew is very similar to the Gospel of Luke in the corrected version. It does not say anything about conception by the Holy Spirit but about the presence of the Holy Spirit in Mary's womb. The original author of the Bible wanted to indicate that Jesus is not an ordinary human being, but a prophet who has the Holy Spirit in him. Nothing indicates the divine origin of Christ.

The correct translation based on the oldest Greek manuscripts of the Bible can be freely translated as follows:
"This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit (Mary's womb was filled with the Holy Spirit)."

The Gospel according to Matthew 1:19-20
19 Joseph, her husband, was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to disgrace, so he intended to divorce her secretly. 20 As he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, for the child conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit."
What is translated as "conceived" "to conceive" is the incorrectly translated Greek word γεννάω . The correct meaning of the word γεννάω is to be born.
Of course, official church Bible translation dictionaries intentionally falsify the meanings of words, and in secular ancient Greek dictionaries, you will find something else. I always strictly follow only secular dictionaries.
The correct translation is: " what was born of her is from the Holy Spirit ."
The verb "narodilo" is in the past tense, so we assume that Joseph had this dream only after the birth of Jesus.
Jesus is not described here as greater than a common prophet. Even in the Old Testament, it is written about some prophets whom God specially chose and the Holy Spirit was in them from birth.

The Gospel according to Matthew – Chapter 1
21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins." 22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet:
23 "Behold, the virgin ( correct translation: "young girl") will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will name him Immanuel," which means: God with us.
The Kralice Bible does not use the word "conceive": "Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel, which means: God with us."

24 When Joseph awoke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took his wife.
25 But he did not know her until she had given birth to a son; and he named him Jesus. This translation was poorly translated. The correct translation:
"But he did not know her until she had given birth to her firstborn son; and they named him Jesus." The correct interpretation of this passage : in the well-sourced English Wikipedia article " Virgin birth of Jesus " it is written that in ancient times people believed that a woman could conceive a child even without sexual intercourse with a man. The unknown author of Matthew's Gospel wanted to emphasize Joseph's chastity, not the conception of Jesus by the Holy Spirit.
The article also contains other quotes and arguments from the Bible that question the virgin conception. While the claim that Mary was conceived naturally is beautiful, logical, and everything fits together logically, the thesis that Mary conceived from the Holy Spirit is full of very serious contradictions.

The specific contradictions of official Christian theology are as follows:
-theologians have a big problem explaining why Joseph wanted to "leave" Mary. They really can't explain it logically. According to the laws of Moses, even in the case of extramarital intercourse, the fornicator is obliged to take the girl as his wife (Ex 22, 16), let alone leave a woman with whom he is already officially married.
Another thing is that if Mary had a belly, Joseph should have had problems with it, not Mary, but the Bible says that Joseph wanted to protect Mary.

Book of Exodus – Chapter 22 16 If a man seduces a virgin who is not pledged to be married and sleeps with her, he must pay the bride price and take her as his wife.

-If Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit, then he would logically be God. However, the arguments for identifying Jesus with God have seriously failed – I have written a lot about this in the context of Arianism. Another thing is that Luke's Gospel cleverly avoids the conception by the Holy Spirit – we find nothing like that there. And Paul's letters also clearly speak of the natural conception of Jesus.

The Bible, evidence for the human conception of Jesus

And as if that weren't enough, other passages in the Bible also support the human conception of Jesus:
Romans – Chapter 1 3 about his Son, who according to the flesh comes from the lineage of David
Correct translation: about his Son, who according to the flesh is of the seed of David's lineage

Translation of the Králice Bible
Concerning his Son, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh,

Galatians – Chapter 4
4 But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of a woman, born under the law,

Correct translation: But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of a woman, born under the law,

Given that in the Peshitta/Greek version the word is clearly seed, it is clear evidence that Jesus was begotten by Joseph. Only a man has seed. The presence of a man is unquestionable in the conception of Jesus.

Biblical quotes that confirm that the virgin conception by the Holy Spirit is a hoax and that it is a pagan idea taken into Christianity Virgin_birth_of_Jesus

In conclusion,

So what follows from these things? The following:
The point that emerges from our article is that we should look at Jesus in a completely different way. While the Catholic Church (and practically all Christian churches) says that Jesus is everything and man is nothing, the truth is that Jesus was also practically an ordinary man. We are ordinary people, but we can get into the same mystical state as Jesus was.
It can also be said that the Bible is also Arian https://cs.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ari%C3%A1nstv%C3%AD
Jesus was born as a human, partially endowed with the Holy Spirit from birth, but he properly received the Holy Spirit at John's baptism . Catholics call this "heresy" adoptionism.
Jesus was also born as a human being who is flawed , who also had flaws, but through true meditation he achieved perfection.
Some Christians may find it difficult to believe in such an unidealized Christ, but in reality, it is good news. The Bible speaks of a Christ who is very similar to us and with whom we have much in common. If Jesus was able to exalt himself to God, then we can do it too. That is something very positive. Even the Gnostics themselves believed that they could be on the same level as Jesus!! Perhaps some church fathers, who deliberately lied about Jesus, meant well when they wanted to idealize Jesus. But they simply lied, and that is blasphemy, and it only bore bad fruit.
This verse is traditionally interpreted as the apostles coming to Jesus after death somewhere in heaven. However, it is meant differently. Jesus says that they will achieve the same spiritual state as him during their earthly life!

The Gospel According to John – Chapter 14
3 When I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you to myself, so that where I am, you may be also. (I remind you that more verses supporting equality with people could be found)
Another thing is that Jesus does not have to be the last prophet (Christians idealize Jesus too much) , as it is traditionally interpreted. Several prophets were before him, several prophets came and will come after him. It is said that Mani's Manichaeans almost equated him with Jesus (they also called him an apostle or prophet). And perhaps justifiably so. He founded Manichaeism – a Gnostic Christian faith that stretched from Britain to China – this faith spread over an unimaginably large area. Mani was perhaps an even greater man than Jesus himself.
